The care I received was excellent, Mr Gleeson was professional, kind, understanding and has a friendly bedside manner. He also listens. I was on the Cheltenham orthopaedic ambulatory pathway. This was explained to me in full, so I was aware of same day discharge. The whole procedure ran like clockwork from admission to discharge. I didn’t have sedation with my epidural and think that this was the right decision for me. I live on my own, so I didn’t have any after effects of general anaesthetic or sedation to worry about that first night. Beside my post op care whilst I waited for my legs to come back to life, I had full information given to me along with a physio session, TTO’s and discharge information. I was a bit concerned about same day discharge but needn’t have worried.

I knew that I was in need of a total knee replacement and reached out to surgeon friends for recommendations. Rob Gleeson’s name kept coming up as someone who was highly respected by his peers. When I saw him for my initial consultation I was very impressed with his clear and frank explanation of the potential risks and benefits of the procedure. Immediately prior to surgery he took time to again explain what the procedure would involve and how I should approach the recovery. Post operation, he visited me three times to talk through how the operation had gone and answer my questions. Six weeks later I am delighted with the results of the surgery. I am already in a far better position than I was prior to the operation. I am able to take exercise and plan the active holidays that I really enjoy. The pain levels and discomfort have been manageable and I have always felt as though I am making progress.
