About
Robert Gleeson is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon at Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust. He is a knee specialist with a keen interest in sports injuries.
Mr Gleeson trained at University College London Medical School gaining a BSc in Anatomy and qualifying as a doctor in 1994. After completing initial specialist training in London, he undertook a knee fellowship in Australia focused on ACL reconstruction and soft-tissue knee surgery.
Mr. Gleeson is co-founder of both the Gloucestershire Knee clinic and the Gloucestershire Hip Clinic where he specialises in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee plus full hip replacements. He is particularly experienced in surgery for knee instability, patellofemoral dysfunction, malalignment and knee arthritis.
Mr Gleeson enjoys various teaching posts and is actively involved in supervising trainee knee surgeons at GRH.

Mr Gleeson listened and understood everything about my need for a new knee. He gave a chance to have a new life to me . I was a fat 59 year old , depressed housewife who was unable to walk . Because of the chance he gave me , because he listened to my explanation of how I got in to this state , I have a new life . I swim , paddle board ,do pilates and socialise more . I am now fit and have lost a lot of weight. He was also very good humoured and approachable at all times and very professional . He happily answered questions and explained exactly what was going to happen . The results far exceeded my own expectations . I cannot thank him enough. The 12 month follow up appointment was very good too.

A very competent and skillful practitioner, who I would happily recommend to any of my friends and family. Particularly if they required surgery to regain the full, active and painless use of a knee joint. I could barely walk prior to the operation, the"bone on bone" articulation of my left leg,reduced my ability to walk to only a few yards and the severe pain effected my sleeping patterns. Now, after one year I can walk happily for miles and my sleep is no longer disturbed with bouts of intense pain.
