I felt nervous about having a hip replacement but when I met Mr Barksfield he gave me complete confidence with his sympathetic and explanatory approach. Thanks to his skills and the aftercare and physio from other Winfield staff, I have experienced a profound change in my physical and psychological well-being.

I am an NHS patient from Cornwall. On first seeing my X-rays, Mr Barksfield felt they may not warrant an immediate knee replacement. He listened to my description of my current quality of life and how the pain was limiting my physical activity. During surgery it became clear that the full extent of the deterioration of my knee hadn’t been clear on the xray. Mr Barksfield made frequent reviews during my 3 day stay. I was kept fully informed and had my expectations managed re pain and immediate mobility. I felt treated as an individual and certainly did not feel any disparity as an NHS patient.

I have experienced the very best care under Mr Barksfield and his team. It has been a very positive and faultless experience. The recovery has been very speedy and relatively pain free. I am so delighted with the range of movement in the hip now. An excellent result.

Absolutely fantastic from the first appointment, couldn't have asked for more, very professional and I am now pain free

I was very nervous prior to my hip replacement surgery, as I was very unfit and overweight and I anticipated a difficult and longer than average recovery. However I couldn’t have been more wrong, and I have been astonished by the immediate and longer term results of Mr Barksfield’s work. I can only credit the success of the procedure to the skill of the surgeon, his experience and knowledge of his tools that resulted in very little discomfort post op, no obvious signs of any physical trauma that one would expect, no swelling, and an incision that was closed in a way that would become a cosmetic surgeon. Mr Barksfield has an efficient team around him that ensured that every detail of my care was attended to without delay. I highly recommend this talented surgeon and I feel very fortunate that it has been my experience to reap the benefits of his fine work.
