About
Nigel Suggett qualified in 1994 from Oxford University and he completed his Basic Surgical Training and Higher Specialist Training in Surgery in the West Midlands. He completed a research degree in colorectal cancer in Birmingham University before co being appointed at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2006.
He is a well establishes consultant who has extensive experience in general and colorectal surgery. He is particularly recognised for his experience in hernia surgery which ranges from 'simple' inguinal hernias to very complex recurrent incisional hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction with the use of adjuncts such as botox, pneumoperitoneum and component separation techniques.
He also has many years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cold-rectal (bowel) cancer and inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease) as well as benign colorectal problems such as diverticulitis, haemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas and pilonidal sinus disease.
He is a fully trained endoscopist and laparoscopic surgeon and therefore able to offer a variety of minimally invasive approaches where possible.
He practices at the BMI Priory and Edgbaston Hospitals as well as his NHS practice at the Queen Elizabeth.

"I've worked with Nigel for many years both in a clinical setting and in managerial roles. He is a true consultant's consultant - a skilled surgeon, and a wise and considered opinion. I would recommend Nigel to anyone without hesitation. Nigel has been involved in looking after a number of my complicated transplant patients and they have all spoken highly of the fantastic clinical care they have received."
