Dr. Nagui Gendi is a Consultant Rheumatologist currently working at the private practices Nuffield Health Brentwood and Spire Hartswood Hospital and he has been an NHS Rheumatology Consultant in Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Trust since 1995. His areas of special interest are connective tissue diseases and other multisystem disorders. He sees children and has conducted a Paediatrics Rheumatology clinic for about 20 years. He is proficient in musculoskeletal ultrasound. He does also medicolegal work in particular for work-related disorders and injury-induced chronic pain including fibromyalgia.
Dr. Gendi graduated from Alexandria University in 1977 and achieved a Master of Science in Internal Medicine in 1984. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians, London, in 1986 and a fellow in 2000. He has broad training in Rheumatology which included the Royal Free Hospital, London, where he developed first his interest in connective tissue diseases, and at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford, where he was trained in inflammatory joint disease, Rehabilitation, and Sports Medicine. He obtained his specialist accreditation in Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Medicine in 1995.
Additionally, Dr. Gendi is interested in research and teaching. He has published on connective tissue diseases and inflammatory arthritis and contributes regularly to multicentre studies. He collaborates widely with colleagues in the region and to training in Rheumatology.
