Diseases, Medical Tests and Treatments
Cartiva Synthetic cartilage implant for Hallux rigidus
Hallux Metatarsal-Phalangeal joint fusion for Hallux rigidus with osteoarthritis
Midfoot fusions for osteoarthritis
Complex foot reconstructions for chronic neuro-muscular foot deformity follwing stroke and other neurological injuries
I have a special interest in neuro-muscular foot deformity correction, including the typical fixed foot flexion deformities after stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury or other adult neurological injury resulting in foot deformity. The affected patients often have years of disability without access to surgical correction in their area. In that capacity I started a multi-disciplinary neuro-muscular Foot deformity clinic in 2018 at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust and with this expertise, I also see patients in the private sector. Surgery for these severe foot deformities is aimed for pain relief, improve mobility, reduce the need for splints and other orthotics, reduce the need for Botox injections in spasticity and overall reduces the carer burden.
