Keerti Mathur (Kit) studied Osteopathic Medicine at the British School of Osteopathy and Oxford Brookes University, graduating with a BSc (Hons) in 2006. He has been working with the Gait and Posture Centre since 2007 and he has a specialist interest in the treatment of arthritic problems with functional and conservative Osteopathic techniques to promote better joint movement and reduce pain effectively.
Upon completion of his studies, Keerti became the director of studies for the department of Osteopathic Medicine at Sri Sri University in India, where he helped develop India's first degree in Osteopathy and helped pioneer areas of biomechanical and functional medicine to pre and post-operative care in Orthopaedics and Rheumatology.
Besides Osteopathy, Keerti teaches mediation and breathwork through his involvement with the Art of Living Foundation. He is also a keen musician and sound engineer, recording a number of studio and stage performances.
I came to Keerti Mathur in May 2020 through The Gait and Posture Clinic in Harley street, after having sprained my right ankle, which in fact was tenosynovitis of the tibialis posterior tendon sheath; sprain of the deltoid ligament and fluid in the talocrural and subtalar joint. This was discovered through having an MRI scan, although im not quite sure how I did it! Aside from this issue, I had been having trouble sleeping and the right side of my neck was always painful along with some numbness in the face, which I found out through Keerti was causing the nerve flickering behind the right eye that I was also encountering. Overall I just wasn't feeling great and generally just tired of the pain when I came to see him. Keerti was extremely professional in his manner, especially as we had Covid 19 restrictions and precautions in place. He explained to me the importance of an MOT of the body, just like a car, and that sometimes we just need a regular check-up. He first showcased to me that I have a slight scoliosis of the spine which was causing alot of tension in my thoracic spine. Keerti realigned this manually and gave me guidance through each step, to reassure me of his process (although a little scary at times.) The pain stopped in my neck and eye after approximately 3 sessions and I will be definately coming for an MOT every few months now im aware of my condition, mainly because I feel so much stronger mentally and physically since his treatment. What I like about Keerti is that he doesnt just work on the alignment of the body, he really treats you like an individual case with many dimensions within the mind, body and spirit that could be affecting you. He is bursting with energy and enthusiasm for his work and I found he has layers and layers of knowledge taken from western medical teachings and ancient holistic knowledge from the East, that gives him such a vast perspective on your case. He answered every question with precision and clarity, although complex at times. He took a deeper look at my situation and found that my right fallopian tube was inflamed and there was some trouble under my right ribcage. This was done just through listening to my body on a very gentle peaceful and actually relaxing process. Ironically I hadn't told him about these troubles as I felt I wasn't there for that, but he discovered them and then spoke to me on a more psychological level, explaining how problems can manifest in the body if we don't deal with them. I really liked his nonjudgmental and humble nature. He is someone you feel you can trust with your thoughts because you can sense his determination and passion to adamantly want to fix you. I'm not entirely sure how, but I don't have pain in my fallopian tube area now and my labido that was down has woken up. The pain under my ribcage I diminished based on Keerti's advice to monitor how different foods affect this particular area and today ,only a few months on, I have noticed this area isn't disturbing me anymore. With regards to my ankle, this is taking some time but everyday is getting better with the exercises given, some orthotics from Simon at The Gait and Posture clinc and some gentle manipulation from Keerti. Psychologically I have dealt with some personal issues that were eating at me since our sessions, so I really appreciate Keerti's verbal guidance during the sessions, plus his emails after the sessions which included a variety of options to take to resolve these issues. These included ayurvedic treatments for a better sense of physical and mental wellbeing, herbs instead of heavy medication to lower my inflammation in my foot, some links to kirtan music (which I really love) and some spiritual links for a horoscope reading when I get stuck in life. Now all these things may not be the kind of approach you were looking for from an osteopath but I really think he took note of my personality and prescribed what would work best for me, in relation to the type of person I am. This personally gave me the sense that he was really listening into what I was needing, not what it may look like on paper in terms of a diagnosis. Keerti is an inspiring man and has a guru like quality, gently giving you the physical manipulations you need and the psychological and spiritual guidance that its best for you, to help you move in the right direction for your wellbeing. He not only has helped me with my physical aliments but has also given me the strength to overcome some career obstacles, and has generally moved me into a clearer headspace. I cant thank Keerti enough, I will be back soon for my MOT check up. Not because I am in any pain, but because I feel his work helps me stay on the right path in life.
Keerti is the only doctor who understood my back problem and solved it completely. He is an absolutely amazing doctor and an amazing friend.
Keerti, or Kit as I call him, is an excellent osteopath. I first saw him for a persistent sore neck, which I had after breast cancer treatment. He quickly resolved the neck pain by giving me exercises, which I could fit within my lifestyle, and educating me about body mechanics and why I was getting the pains. He was so good that even after my neck pain subsided I decided to continue to see him for general health and well-being. Kit is friendly and a therapist who knows exactly what he's doing. I strongly recommend him.
