Mr Kaz Rahman became a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Aberdeen in 2016. His career advanced in Aberdeen through the development of pathways for soft tissue limb reconstruction and he co-founded an abdominal wall MDT and is a member of the Grampian Skin Cancer team. He also works as a Consultant Plastic- Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Albyn Hospital, with a speciality in reconstruction following trauma and cancer and in aesthetic surgery. He carries out non-surgical and laser treatments.
Mr Rahman obtained his qualification from the University of Aberdeen in 1999 and was trained in Newcastle, Liverpool, London, and Melbourne. He obtained a postgraduate research degree after research on abnormal wound healing states following trauma at the University College London, in 2005. He was trained in advanced surgery at Newcastle in 2007 in the Northern Deanery, thereby acquiring skills in head and neck surgery, limb and abdominal wall reconstruction. Mr Rahman was involved in fellowships in Microsurgical Limb Reconstruction and Major Trauma at St Mary’s Hospital, London and in Aesthetic Surgery at the London Clinic on Harley Street. In 2012, he obtained the FRCS (Plast) and was enlisted in the GMC specialist register for Plastic Surgery in 2014, the same time he first became a consultant being a head and neck surgeon in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Mr Rahman sits on Scottish and UK groups on surgical training, skin cancer and trauma and involves in interviewing nationally for entry into Plastic Surgical Training. He keeps presenting at a national and international level, publishes in peer-reviewed journals and writes book chapters. As an academic, he holds the position of an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Aberdeen.
