Joseph Gannon is a Senior Physiologist specialising in Sleep and Respiratory Medicine, and is proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of a vast array of sleep disorders in patients experiencing sleep problems including insomnia, snoring and sleep apnoea. A key part of his role is to ensure that specialised guidance and support is provided from the time of diagnosis until the successful treatment of the disorder in question.
As the Chief Sleep Physiologist at The Sleep Disorders Clinic, Joseph is responsible for the interpretation of sleep studies, patient continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiations and compliance follow-ups. He also leads the analysis and reporting of other external sleep centres' sleep studies.
In his previous role at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, Joseph was a Senior Physiologist whose main focus was on sleep and ventilation. This role involved lead titrations of mechanical ventilation in a rare but broad group of patients, and also analysis of sleep studies from basic oximetry to full polysomnography.
Joseph’s skills have developed during the 10 years he has worked within the speciality of sleep physiology, and his previous roles have included working in drug research in a clinical trials environment at Hammersmith Medicines Research, at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital Sleep Disorders Centre, and other private and NHS institutions.
I highly recommend this clinic and Joseph in particular. He is very professional and has an excellent bed manner that made me feel completely at ease. Thorough aftercare is also provided to help any teething issues you may encounter as is normal with first time CPAP users.
A complete pleasure from start to finish. I travelled to meet Joseph after having the overnight sleep test and the results coming back pretty bad. After explaining in detail exactly what was happening to me i was advised to follow CPAP treatment. I was shown the machine and again had everything explained in fine detail, from set up, to use and also maintenance. Expert care was taken to ensure i was fitted with the correct mask. After a couple of difficult weeks of getting used to my new sleeping apparatus i was assured by Joseph again and again to keep at it and the results would come. Time told the story and the machine helped my sleep tremendously, reducing my breathing from stopping 39 times an hour to only 2 times an hour. Not only this Joseph was happy to help me with informing the DVLA also. The DVLA wanted proof that my CPAP was effective enough for me to continue driving, Joseph and his team were only happy enough to correspond with them and give them all the info and data needed to keep me my licence. Overall an amazing service, professional and also personal. Thank you Joseph and the sleep clinic team you really have changed my life!
Incredibly caring and thoughtful. Took the tine listen. I would recommend.
Very relaxed approach and reassuring. Explained everything in detail and answered my questions to the full.
My experience with Joseph was 1st class. I travelled from Scotland to London to see Joseph. The hospital up here told me I had Sleep Apnea, but I didn’t feel they answered all my questions. Best decision I made. From start to finish, Joseph answered all my questions, and took total interest in all my concerns and queries re: Sleep Apnea. He has kept in touch with me via phone or e mail to check my progress, and has been exceptionally helpful and understand about all my concerns. I did once attend another sleep clinic in Harley Street many years ago. However, that was nowhere as professional as this clinic. It comes with 5 star rating, and I can’t recommend Joseph high enough
