Mr Conroy was extremely helpful with his explanations of the operation. After the operation his bedside manner was excellent. The hip replacement I received gave me back my life and I can't thank Mr Conroy enough. I also think that it is important for the recipient to do the exercises and follow the advice given after the op.
Absolutely magnificent from start to finish! On meeting Mr Conroy I had immediate confidence in him , and the techniques he was using to replace my arthritic hip! My new hip is amazing , no pain at all , scar has nearly disappeared after 4 months and my mobility and flexibility is completely restored. Just wonderful!
Very pleased with my right hip replacement by Mr Conroy six months ago due to arthritis, as it has now settled down very well with minimal aching after a full days treking and climbing. So I am now focusing on building the distance and difficulty up over several consecutive days so I can hopefully go treking again for approx 20 days in the Himalayas later this year and I will resume other exercise eg swimming as soon as it permitted as I found this very beneficial in my first stages of recovery.
Mr Conroy is easy to talk to, he listened to my questions and gave helpful answers.
Listened and was thorough in assessment and diagnosis, giving all the options available to me. Opted for the robotics operation which gave me more assurance of accuracy. The operation itself was by epidural, no pain (although the sounds and smells reminded me a little of the dentists)! Afterwards (within 24 hours) I was moving my leg, bending my knee, walking with support (frame then crutches) and managing stairs. I'm very please with the outcome.
Mr Conroy is without a doubt a leader in his field. He always takes the time to explain things fully and help with any queries. I was able to have a bi lateral hiop replacement, which I wanted as both hips were very bad and I couldn't really have time off again 6 months later for another operation. Luckliy My Conroy in one of a small number who will do bi lateral hip replacements. I am now just over a year post surgery and am generally pain free.
From my first consultation Mr Conroy diagnosed my condition, understood my concerns and expectations. He explained the procedure clearly and in detail with what I should expect and any attached risks. My in patient experience was excellent and recovery straightforward. The physiotherapy advice was good and aided my return to normal function. I am keen sports person and long distance event devotee. I now find that since I had my robotic hip replacement I can again enjoy these pastimes, pain free.
Following my first consultation with Mr. Conroy I was admitted to hospital for a hip replacement with the removal of pins. I found the whole experience extremely professional and all the staff well trained, efficient and friendly. The operation was very successful and I am delighted with the result.
Excellent, efficient and thankfully a speedy recovery
I found Jon to be thoughtful and engaged in my issues and was able to articulate what he thought the issues were and how he proposed to solve them. He took an interest in me as a person as well as me as a patient and that allowed me to feel at ease with his treatment and confident that I was being dealt with by an exemplary professional
I knew by the time I saw Mr Conroy that I needed bilateral hip replacement due to osteoarthritis. At the age of 48, I was younger than average to be having this type of surgery and I had done quite a lot of research and seen one other consultant beforehand. It is now five weeks since my second operation. From the first consultation, Jon reassured me that I had found the right person to do my surgery. He had a sympathetic but no-nonsense manner that inspired trust and confidence. I felt I was given the right amount of information throughout the process and was treated with respect and courtesy by the whole team. I had confidence in the robotic arm assisted surgery and appreciated the efficiency and precision this gave to the procedure. I particularly appreciated Jon's consideration of my situation regarding the timing of the second operation. In the weeks following the operations, I was also very pleased to be following a unrestricted recovery which meant that post surgery, I did not have to follow rules regarding movement and positioning of my hips. I would not hesitate in recommending Mr Conroy to others needing hip replacement.
I first met Mr Conroy when working as a physiotherapist at Harrogate District Hospital. I have treated a number of MR Conroy patients with both Hip and Knee issues, following arthroscopes and joint replacement surgery. I have found Mr Conroy professional knowledge, expertise second to none and the manner in which he speaks to both his patients and other staff members is excellent. I have been lucky enough to work with Olympic athletes from Team GB, Team Australia, Team China, Qatar national football team academy players and a number of different professional sporting teams and athletes around the UK. I would have no hesitations in recommending and sending any of my athletes, private patients, or members of the public to Mr Conroy for an orthopaedic opinion, surgical review or operation on hips and knees.
Couldn't be more happy with my new hip! After my Mum experiencing problems a few years ago with knee surgery that went wrong ( not by Mr Conroy) I had learnt that it was crucial to choose your surgeon not your surgery. I would definitely recommend Mr Conroy.
Jon Conroy is a great person and surgeon .From my initial consultation through surgery and discharge Mr Conroy has been informative, reassuring and supportive. My surgical outcome is very positive, I have had two hips replaced over a 12 month period and have recovered my active lifestyle quickly and without any problems . I elected to have the robotically assisted surgery , my experience was generally positive and would Highly recommend Jon Conroy
I finally went to see Mr Conroy in December 2019 and agreed that I would need a knee replacement. I had put this off too long which I would not recommend.i had the op 2nd March 2020.Mr Conroy’s team were amazing,I never felt nervous although I thought I would. After the op I could not believe how Mr Conroy has straightened my leg I could bend it within a week - result!! Thank you Mr Conroy you are the best!!
I cannot thank mr Conroy and his team enough I’ve had both my hips replaced and I can honestly say from the start I was made to feel at ease an thorough explanation of the procedure but most of all mr Conroy is a wonderful caring surgeon who looks after his patients with enormous pride. There isn’t enough thanks for what this fabulous gentleman has done for my state of well being Thank you mr Conroy
First class from start to finish. Never left in doubt about anything. Great communication throughout. 100/100.
Brilliant enthusiastic approach explained what was wrong with my hip and how to repair it . Really quickly turned around which has saved my business. Nhs surgeon told me to find another career as I wouldn’t do my job after hip replacement. My no restrictions hip robotic surgery went well. And even the unforeseen haematoma(clot) if I got that wrong was dealt with quickly. And my recovery Has been fast and now back at work 1 month after. And completely pain free
Very good experience- a successful operation and follow up. The consultant provided a good prior explanation and reassurance where needed, together with same on follow up appointment. All very efficient and very happy with the care that I received whilst in hospital. As a bonus the food was good ! No complaints.
Very happy with the experience, especially considering the circumstances.
After struggling with my hip issues, we came to see Mr Conroy. The prognosis I received was not what I was expecting, however he made me feel much more at ease by fully explaining the likelihood of my surgery and exactly what the problem was. After having my MRI scan, it was quickly apparent as to what the problem was and I felt 100% confident that Mr Conroy knew and could solve what was happening. When it came to the day of my surgery, I was not worried about it because I wanted the pain to be done and I was confident that he would solve the problem. Before my surgery, everything was explained to me so I didn't feel worried or concerned, with me understanding every possible outcome. After my surgery, I had the best possible outcome and had strong guidance on how to get through my recovery the best way I could to ensure best outcomes in the long run. Could not have asked for better guidance and care in my situation. Despite reading what COULD happen during my surgery, my mind was put to rest because of the excellent support and guidance that I received before, during and after.
Super treatment worth every penny.
Very professional in all aspects, did a great job and I’d recommend to anyone
After initial consultation with Mr Conroy I was left confident that a positive outcome was in no doubt. His explanations of the causes and effects of my hip problems and the operations needed to rectify them, were clear and inspired confidence. The Operations (9 months apart) both went extremely smoothly. I was impressed with Mr Conroy's clinical professionalism, especially in the way his surgical team worked so flawlessly. I felt no discomfort during the operations and any anxiety I felt was quickly allayed. Post Op discomfort was minimal and Post Op care continues. Both Operations have been a complete success. My treatment by Mr Conroy was excellent from the outset, he is a very able communicator who inspires confidence the moment you meet him. I think he is a brilliant surgeon and a thoroughly decent human being.
felt confident and reassured; took time to explain and also explore all options in advance of the operation. I was also glad to go down the epidural route and did not feel pressured in to that decision. No surprises at any point.
From our first meeting, Jon fully explained my condition, what surgery was available and his opinion of how I would benefit from it. His meeting with me on the day prior to the operation and in the theatre was again fully informative and reassuring. He called to see me the following morning, a Sunday, and had the time to talk through the operation and answer any questions that I had. Excellent service from a very competent and skilled man.
Extremely helpful and very useful advice. He told me about options I was unaware of. Very friendly and communicates well.
Very supportive-from all the staff involved in my treatment.
Mr Conroy transformed a very difficult situation into one that was easy to understand, explaining all options but clearly indicating the right way forward. His expertise, combined with his empathy, compassion and clarity of thought, gave the best possible outcome.
Was absolutely delighted with the whole procedure from beginning to end
Excellent treatment and very positive experience altogether.
Better than expected. Excellent service and outcome. Information provision by the Nuffield superb.
My whole experience with Mr Conroy from start to finish has been excellent. Everything has been clearly explained throughout and the care received at the Nuffield in Leeds was 5 star. I would highly recommend his services and the robotic procedure which has enabled me to make a speedy recovery
Very satisfactory hip replacement procedure, pain much reduced, posture improved, no post-operative complications. Explanations very full and helpful, I am very pleased to have been referred to Mr Conroy.
Excellent experience. The experience was worth paying privately for. Mr Conroy was excellent, couldn’t be more helpful. Two very successful knee replacements. Thank you.
I thought the whole experience from pre assessment to the operation and after care was handled in a professional manner.
Excellent - had total trust and confidence in Mr Conroy. The procedure was explained in full both before and on arrival in hospital - a positive experience.
Mr Conroy has dealt with three problems for me, including two joint replacements, over the past four years. In each case the diagnosis was swift, the options put to me clearly and concisely. The pre-op counselling was thorough and full. The operations themselves, by far the most important consideration, were superb. No bruising, scars healing very quickly; both signs of an efficient surgeon. Post-op care was excellent and final discharge well organised. His "bedside manner" was impeccable and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone.
My hip op could not have gone better . Within 4 months back to playing tennis .My main worry after having had the op done was to remember to be careful because it felt so good . I would recommend Mr Conroy to all of my friends and acquaintances.
Excellent medical care and advice from first meeting to post-operative follow up. Mr Conroy and his team team all very professional and personable. I felt relaxed and confident that I was in good hands. So good I didn’t twice. My recovery was very fast, both times thanks to the expertise in procedure and care and advice I received.
The reply to my first email reflected attentiveness and much concern regarding my situation.
We were at a dead end and nowhere to turn. Having researched online I came up with Mr Conroy's profile and I knew that he was the one to sort things out. His expertise is second to none and we are both so grateful that he took us on. His post-op report to us was detailed and full of hope. We believe he did the best he could in the circumstances found. Recommendations goes without saying.
All very professional and reassuring.
I was recommended to Mr. Conroy and was absolutely delighted with all he did for me. I would definitely recommend him for anyone needing a hip replacement.
The whole experience was smooth, professional and I felt at ease and comfortable with the decision all through. It was a big decision for me to take surgery but a well informed one when I did and with no rush I felt it was the right one.
Mr Conroy was great. I really appreciated that Mr Conroy was up front and honest about my injury and referred me to another surgeon with greater experience in repairing this type of injury – so that I would get the best possible outcome.
Jon was excellent in his explanation of the problem with my hip and also in explaining what my alternative options were. I decided to undergo surgery under a general anesthetic. I found it imperative to do the advised post operation exercises to strengthen and activate the appropriate muscles. I am now 20 months down the line with virtually full range of movement with my hip and no pain. Very pleased that I made the decision.
My experience was unusual. I went under the anaesthetic normally but remember little of it. Then I lost about 2 days, apparently suffering a mini stroke, with confused speech and a very weak R arm. I was then transferrerd to an NHS ward specialising in strokes, given good attention , tests, for four days, no after effects found. Then discharged after 7 nights in hospital.
From the initial consultation to completion of my physiotherapist the whole procedure went perfectly and I would recommend Mr Conroy without hesitation.
