Mr. James Brewin is a Consultant Urologist with many years of experience in the treatment and management of urological conditions such as UTIs, blood in urine, erectile dysfunction, kidney stones, and enlarged prostate. He is renowned for introducing Laser prostate (HoLEP) surgery in Salisbury in 2014. He sees private patients at Ramsay New Hall Hospital and Salisbury District Hospital.
Mr. Brewin earned his primary medical qualification at the University of Nottingham Medical School, after which he undertook his basic surgical training, and later his specialist training on the South Thames training rotation, which includes renowned hospitals such as St Thomas', Kings College, and Brighton Hospitals. During this time, he gained interest in stone surgery and went on to complete his certificate in medical education and also his Master's in Urological Sciences.
Since his appointment as Consultant, Mr. Brewin has performed hundreds of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) procedures and has been a key point in the development of the regional HoLEP services, in addition to minimally invasive treatment for enlarged prostate including Rezum and Urolift. Mr. Brewin is also an active member of the research and teaching community, authoring various publications on urology and regularly tutors junior doctors.

Mr Brewin was very thorough in his explanation of the procedure and on the day of the operation checked that I was aware of what I was about to undergo and afterwards came in and gave assurances that all went well. Certainly within seventy two hours I felt so much better than I had for some years. He was very attentive and reassuring in his manner.

Mr Brewin took plenty of time to explain what would happen during my procedure. We discussed options and with his advice, I chose the most appropriate one. I had a full explanation of each option before hand. My procedure seems to have been successful. His team have always responded to queries quickly.

Made me feel completely at ease. Explained the cause of my symptoms, the procedure required to address and the outcome in a very clear manner. On the day of the procedure, he again ran through expectations and afterwards reassured me that all had gone according to plan. Recuperation was exactly as he described and in follow up, he reassured me on recovery and outcomes.
