Mr. Ian Hunter is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon and General Surgeon currently working at the private practice Nuffield Health Taunton Hospital and his current post is Musgrove Park Hospital. His areas of specialism include the management of peripheral vascular disease, aortic aneurysm (both open and endovascular repair), carotid artery disease, vascular trauma, and venous disease. He has developed advanced skills in the management of varicose veins; including endovenous laser ablation, radiofrequency ablation, foam injection sclerotherapy, and varicose vein surgery. He also specialises in hernia surgery including inguinal, femoral, and umbilical hernia repair.
Mr. Hunter completed his undergraduate training at the University of Oxford Medical School and St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospital Medical School. He completed his specialist vascular training at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. He also has many professional memberships including Vascular Society of Great Britain & Ireland and British Society for Endovascular Therapy.
In addition, Mr. Hunter is interested in research regarding arterial disease and venous disease. He also offers courses to GPs and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer, University of Bristol. Mr. Hunter is also the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at Nuffield Hospital Taunton. In his spare time, Mr. Hunter is a keen rugby fan, primarily his native Ulster rugby but also supports Exeter Chiefs since he moved to Taunton.
