About
Mr Henry Sharp is a Consultant ENT Surgeon, covering all aspects of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery pathology. In addition, he has a super-specialist knowledge of the medical and surgical treatment of problems that arise with the structure and function of the nose. His specialist interest lies in rhinoplasty (a 'nose-job', or operation to alter the shape of the nose) and Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (F.E.S.S). This is surgery performed on the nose and sinuses for long standing sinus problems and nasal polyps.
Mr Sharp qualified as a doctor in 1990 from St Thomas' Hospital in London. He went on to complete his speciality training in ENT in Oxford and at Charing Cross and The Brompton Hospitals in London. He then completed his higher surgical training in ENT at Guys', St Thomas' and Kings Hospitals and University Hospital, Lewisham in London. Henry also received super-specialised paediatric training at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and The Evelina Children's Hospital at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London. In 2003, Henry undertook a Fellowship in advanced sinus surgery and facial plastic surgery at an internationally renowned centre in Fulda, Germany. This was achieved with help from a grant from The Royal Society of Medicine.
Mr Sharp is also interested in teaching and research and is currently The Royal College of Surgeons ENT Surgery College Tutor and an Honorary Clinical Tutor to Guy's, St Thomas' and King's Hospital Medical School.

My appointment with Mr Sharp was incredibly short. While he ultimately agreed to surgery, which is what I had hoped for, he gave little info about what would be involved other than a leaflet. He was suddenly very reluctant to move forward, and used some reasoning that felt quite misogynistic, once I explained I was still breastfeeding. When I explained that I have also had sinus issues for almost as long as I have had tonsillitis and asked if the two could be linked, he agreed to look at my nostrils but didn’t ask for any more information. He also tried to pass me back to my GP, stating I had refused surgery when I had actually agreed that I would take a week to think about his concerns. I was able to remedy this and booked in my survey quite quickly without needed to be re-referred, thankfully, but this made an already stressful situation unnecessarily more so.

Mr Sharp was lovely. I was very worried to start of with he made me feel relaxed as he started with a procedure in out patients which didn't hurt. He came and saw me in the ward and told me how long to wait marked my ear so not to get the wrong one znd asked if I had any questions
