Mr Hans Marynissen graduated in Orthopaedic Surgery from the University of Antwerp, Belgium in 1998. Within this field, he showed a specialist interest towards shoulder and knee pathology having completed fellowships in both South Africa and the USA. More specifically, he focusses on joint preserving and minimally invasive surgery.
In 1999, he became a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and has an NHS practice within ELHT (Burnley, Blackburn and Rossendale hospital sites). Furthermore, he has private practice privileges at Gisburne Park Hospital, The Beardwood Hospital and the Fullwood Hall Hospital.
Mr Marynissen helped to establish the SKI (Soft tissue Knee Injury) group and was one of the first surgeons to introduce personalised knee replacement surgery and high tibial osteotomy (knee realignment) surgery in the North of England. He has written about his work in several peer-reviewed journals.
In his spare time Mr Marynissen is a keen cyclist and (apprentice) sailor, he likes long-distance hikes, tennis, badminton and plays the guitar.

I have had occasion to see Mr Marynissen several times over the last few years, (for different and separate issues), but latterly one week ago for knee pain diagnosed as chondrocalcinosis following MRI scan. I cannot recommend him highly enough as each consultation and procedure could not have been more professional, precise and effective. Not only that, both he and his medical secretary absolutely bend over backwards to facilitate the shortest wait possible for an appointment - followed by timely treatment despite the fact that his time, knowledge and expertise is always in great demand. I went from misery to elation within hours at this last visit. I couldn't be more grateful. Thank you so much.

I am so sorry that I could not come to see you in April so that I could tell you what a fantastic job you have done on my knee. It straigtens fully, bends fully and pain free walking is just so brilliant! Last weekend managed 8 miles around Grassington and I thought I would never be able to do that again! I am a new woman!
