“l rate Mr Shepard and his team very highly from my first meeting with him he put me at ease and explained all l needed to know about my options for my right hip arthritis which was making me very immobile and in severe pain. I asked to have a total hip replacement which he agreed to perform at the Beaumont hospital at Bolton . The operation was a revelation for me I was in hospital for just one night was up walking the next day after the operation with crutches and back home no arthritis pain just the operation pain which compared to previous pain was very mild ,after four weeks I was walking without crutches and pain free l am off most of the pain killers apart from paracetamol. This operation for me has been a complete success and l am only seven past my operating date .l can’t thank Mr Shepard and his team enough for there help . Many Thanks once again . Michael “

    About

Mr Gordon Shepard is a respected Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgeries and sports injuries.

His experience covers studying and training in the Uk and also with world-renowned surgeons in Sports and Arthroplasty Surgery in Boston, Denver and Adelaide. After 16 years at the Royal Bolton Hospital, he left to pursue non-emergency surgery for the NHS.

He has an interest in regenerative and reconstructive techniques and has practised what is now becoming known as biological surgery. He has over a two decades of experience in these techniques.

Mr Shepard was appointed as one of the sports orthopaedics consultants to the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 although a call-up to serve as a surgeon in the Army prevented him from taking up this post. He has also provided orthopaedic surgical services to professional football clubs in the northwest of England.

I found Mr Shepard approachable and very easy to talk to. During the initial consultation, he explained my condition, Xray results and options in great detail, taking time to answer any questions / concerns surrounding the proceedure and recovery. The operation went well and the outcome has exceeded my (high) expectations. I am pain free and was off crutches after three weeks. At seven weeks I am now able to walk between 5 and 10 miles per day. My life is almost back where it was thanks to Mr Shepard and the team at The Beaumont.

Excellent pre op information highlighting procedure, risks, post operative expectations and operation, Mr Shepherd was completely professional, very knowledgeable and clear. He and his surgical team made the operation less daunting and post operative care was caring and helpful, as well as preparing me for recuperation at home. I unreservedly recommend Mr Shepherd to anyone needing an effective and efficient treatment of knee joint problems.

Mr Shepherd was highly professional in his care for me before, during and after the hip replacement that I had in January 2021. He took his time to make clear the possible outcomes when initially assessing my case. His manner was reassuring and measured at all times. I very much appreciated the way in which he involved me in the decision making

As soon as I met Mr. Shepard at my first appointment I felt I had come to the right surgeon. I believed I could trust him completely and felt very safe under his care. This proved to be the case, my operation went very smoothly and at all times I believe I got the best care possible. I am incredibly grateful to Mr. Shepard for giving me back my mobility!

Hi All. Just want to give some feedback on a great surgeon Mr Gordon Shepard. Gordon stepped in at short notice for a total left hip replacement. He did a fantastic job from start to finish, explained everything in detail in a down to earth, friendly, but very professional manor. The hip replacement he did has been amazing, and his aftercare is first class, I was walking on crutches the same day, of the operation and after 6 weeks am up to 6 mile a day pain and crutch free. I could feel the difference from day one. Apart from him being a Liverpool FC fan I can not fault this guy and would HIGHLY RECCOMMEND him to anybody needing this type of procedure.
