I decided to see Mr Spink with my back problem after been told some 6 months prior that there was nothing that could be done apart from keeping my weight down. The pain was getting worse by the day and I had started to become incontenant, after explaining my symptoms and an examination he told me to pack a bag and go straight Hull Royal Imfirmary for emergency surgery. I cannot thank him enough it's early days yet it looks like my bladder and bowels have been saved he said I have cauda Equina Syndrome if left untreated the outlook is grim. Thank you once again Mr Spink

I have seen a few consultants, mostly private and generally they seem to look down on you, Mr Spink didn't do this, he was friendly and treated me like an educated human being, not a moron.

Initial consultation with Mr Spink kept me well Informed and also put me at ease. With major surgery required and recommended I experienced many emotions, however when I left Mr Spink’s office I felt reassured and confident of his expertise.

I immediately felt welcome and was given time to describe my condition with Mr Spink, without feeling rushed or patronised in any way. I felt like someone cared about my condition and that Mr Spink explained everything well and answered my questions, whilst listening intently to my issues. The consultancy notes showed that Mr Spink had taken account of everything I had said in my appointment and the proposed investigations were arranged swiftly, with next steps discussed through prior to me leaving the appointment.

Mr Spink was professional, direct and succinct in outlining my medical situation. He cascaded the results verbally and via showing us results of an MRI scan taken whilst in hospital, explaining in terms my wife and I could easily understand.

Our second time with Mr Spink, as he mended my wife’s back a few years ago. A very pleasant and polite gentleman with great bedside manner who takes the time to get to understand your symptoms before explaining and agreeing a plan of action for treatment. You are in the best possible hands with Mr Spink, a reassuring gentleman.

I was really disappointed with my appointment, I felt I was not listened to and I was dismissed because of other health problems I have, he had not request my MRI images, so he was just going off the report. He told me I needed better pain management, a total waste of my time.

I found Mr Spink to be a very personable and easy person to speak to, who explained things in clear and understandable layman's terms, whilst using relevant medical terminology to enable me to research my condition post-consultation. He also gave me a thorough explanation of my treatment options and the benefits and risks associated with each, such that I could make my own informed decision.

I found Mr Spink very calming and understanding, he listened patiently to my problems and then discussed at length what my treatment options were.
