Mr Felipe Dhawahir-Scala, Consultant in Ophthalmology and Vitreoretinal Surgery works in both Manchester and Central London. He began his medical education in Spain in which he qualified in Madrid, he then went on to do specialist training in Ophthalmology in the UK. This specialist training broadened his knowledge on areas like retinal surgery, floaters, simple/complex cataract surgery, age-related macular degeneration, and acute and chronic ocular trauma.
He Is currently the director of acute ophthalmic services at the well-renowned Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. His expertise and experience have enabled him to consistently contribute to this hospital, introducing new technologies to the UK and abroad. Additionally, he is a prolific researcher with a significant publication history and has been invited to present his research within the UK and abroad, he continues to teach alongside his research.
Mr Dhawahir-Scala is a founding member and currently the vice-president of the British Eye Emergency Society (BEECS). Furthermore, he continues his teaching responsibilities as an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, in which he examines doctors from around the globe who seek a higher qualification in Ophthalmology. He is a fluent Arabic, Spanish, and English speaker, enabling him to provide great service to a range of international and national patients.
