Mr Evangelos Efthimiou

Mr Evangelos Efthimiou is a Consultant Bariatric and General Surgeon, based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College. Mr Efthimiou also sees patients privately. He specialises in general surgery, bariatric and laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal surgery and treats conditions including gallstones, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, hernia and bariatic (weight loss) surgery.

Mr Efthimiou gradulated from the Medical School of Athens and then undertook basic surgical training in London, where he also pursued research interests at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund at Hammersmith Hospital, where he investigated the molecular and cellular changes in pancreatic cancer under Professor N Lemoine. He completed higher surgical training in The Wessex Deanery and developed a specialist interest in upper GI and laparoscopic surgery. Mr Efthimiou spent his final year of training at The Royal Marsden Hospital and obtained an advanced Fellowship in laparoscopic bariatric surgery at McGill University in Canada. He then returned to the UK where he was appointed as a Consultatn at his current hospital.

He is the author of papers in general surgery and bariatric surgery and has presented at national and international conferences. Mr Efthimiou also lectures and organises courses for other surgeons.
