I recently had the privilege of being under the care of Mr. Ejaz Mughal, an exceptional orthopaedic surgeon at Wolverhampton Hospital . From the moment I met him, I knew I was in safe hands. Mr. Mughal's expertise, professionalism, and compassionate approach truly set him apart as a remarkable healthcare provider. I came to Mr. Mughal in February with a complex leg injury resulting from a fall off a loft ladder. His reassuring demeanor and vast knowledge immediately put me at ease. He performed a complex surgery to address my injury, showcasing his exceptional surgical skills. Throughout my recovery, Mr. Mughal played a pivotal role in guiding and supporting me, ensuring I progressed from a gutter frame to a Zimmer frame, then crutches, then a walking stick, and now I walk unaided, all within the span of just four months. This rapid progress is a testament to his excellent surgical intervention. What truly impressed me about Mr. Mughal was his humility despite his extraordinary abilities. He consistently expressed that he was only doing his job, making me feel valued and reassured. Mr. Mughal's ability to make a challenging job appear effortless is a true testament to his expertise and dedication. Mr Mughal is a remarkable consultant who has extensive knowledge in his field and delivers excellent patient care and results. What sets him apart from other orthopaedic consultants I have seen is his impressive knowledge and expertise, professionalism and his friendly and caring demeanour. I presented with excruciating pain at A&E and was unable to walk and two A&E doctors and two orthopaedic surgeons failed to accurately diagnose me. Within minutes of my initial consultation with Mr Mughal I felt assured I had made the right decision in selecting him as he accurately diagnosed my injury (rectus femoris avulsion) and requested a MRI scan to confirm the diagnosis. I was really distressed and in excruciating pain however Mr Mughal’s ability to diagnose me within minutes together with his calm and relaxed approach inspired confidence and trust and I immediately felt at ease and knew I was in good hands. From initial consultation through to follow ups the care has been exceptional. I have received clear, accurate, comprehensive information to help me understand my injury and make informed choices about my treatments and ongoing care. Mr Mughal proactively took care of the follow ups required after my diagnosis so I did not have to worry. The first follow up was scheduled two weeks after diagnosis which was extremely beneficial as I had numerous questions at this point and Mr Mughal answered all my questions and carefully and appropriately managed my expectations with regards to the recovery timeframe. This was followed by monthly appointments which serve as key milestones in my journey to full recovery as Mr Mughal understands the significant impact this injury has had on my health (both physically and mentally) and how important it is for me to recover as soon as possible and resume normal activities. I look forward to my appointments because Mr Mughal is really patient and takes the time to actually listen to my concerns and answers the numerous questions I always have. There is a striking difference between a consultant that is simply doing their job and one that is truly passionate about helping their patients. Mr Mughal is the latter. His sincere care and concern, kindness, compassion, ability to empathise together with his extensive and impressive knowledge and experience, excellent communication skills, ability to apply a holistic approach to patient care (which most consultants don’t do) inspire confidence and trust in a patient and make them feel positive about their road to recovery and ultimately results in quality patient care and improved quality of life. I highly recommend Mr Mughal. He makes a valuable asset to the medical teams and hospitals he works for.
