The doctor studied at Oxford University for his undergraduate training, which he completed in 1999.  During his time at Oxford, he won several prizes and accolades, including the Open Academic Scholarship from Brasenose College.  Mr Lee then worked throughout the UK and spent some time in New Zealand as well, before returning to London to pursue specialist training in ophthalmology.  He has worked in the field of retinal gene therapy and received a PhD in 2011.

I went to see Mr Lee about a cataract in one eye. I had had very little sight in the other eye since a very young age and was concerned that removal of the cataract in my 'good' eye could be risky. That was the main purpose of my visit. Mr Lee was initially more interested in my 'bad' eye and said that there may be potential to improve the sight in that eye and that he had a clinic at another hospital at which he could investigate further with more sophisticated equipment. I am 78. During my life the possibility of improving sight in my 'bad' eye has never been suggested. Whether this proves successful or not, he is the first person who has ever given it consideration and for that reason I am grateful that he has suggested that he will see me at his retinal clinic. He assured me that removing the cataract in my 'good' eye should be straightforward and I will consider when is the best time for this surgery.

Ed is a very thorough and thoughtful doctor. He is excellently supported by his secretary and administrative team. I whole heartedly would recommend him to treat all acute and general ophthalmology problems. He specialises in retinal disease both medically and surgically as well as cataract surgery.
