Mr Dipankar Chattopadhyay is a consultant general surgeon based at Bridges Clinic and The Manor Hospital. He has a special interest in the surgical management of hiatal hernia and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease as well as the laparoscopic and open surgical management of incisional hernia.
He has expertise in the following areas:
Mr Chattopadhyay completed his medical training at Calcutta University in India where he undertook a three-year residency in surgery to become proficient in open surgeries including hernia repair.
He then relocated to the UK for further training and research work and was awarded the postgraduate Doctor of Medicine qualification for his work on the ‘Application of molecular profiling and proteomics in the management of liver cancer'. During this time, Mr Chattopdhyay joined the speciality training rotation where he trained in all aspects of general surgery. It was during this time that he developed his interest in benign upper GI surgery.
In 2015, Mr Chattopadhyay became a Consultant at Bedford Hospital and joined the Manor Hospital in 2016. Outside of his clinical work he is also a keen trainer for surgical trainees and is an educational and clinical supervisor.
Outside of the hospital, MR Chattopadhyay enjoys amateur photography with nature as his favourite subject.
