Mr Clemens von Widekind

Mr Clemens von Widekind is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist currently working at the private practice BMI Three Shires Hospital, Northampton. His current NHS post is at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. His area of specialism is Gynaecology including special interests in Endometriosis, Infertility, Pelvic Pain, Pelvic Prolapse, and Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Uteropexy.

Mr Clemens von Widekind qualified in Medicine at Freie University Berlin, Germany in 1989. He worked in Teaching Hospitals in Cologne and Berlin before moving to England. He has many professional memberships including Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and Member of the British Maternal & Fetal Medicine Society. From 2009 till 2017 he was first Clinical Director and later Divisional Director for Women's Health and Oncology at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust.

In addition, Mr Clemens von Widekind is interested in research regarding laparoscopic surgery and the implementation of new surgical strategies. He introduced Laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomies to the region and refined the pathway allowing the majority of patients to be treated as day cases. He is actively involved in the teaching and training of junior doctors and medical students from Oxford and Leicester University. He teaches Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Gynaecological Ultrasound and Fetal Medicine. He has received 5 Clinical Excellence Awards and his personal interests include Rowing.
