Anthony Blower is a Consultant General / Colorectal surgeon, based at Ramsay Euxton Hall Hospital and BMI The Beaumont Hospital where he sees patients privately and also NHS patients referred to these hospitals by their GP. He worked as a Consultant in General / Colorectal and GI Surgery at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh (WWL) NHS Foundation Trust from January 1993 to July 2013. His specialist interests include colorectal surgery (lower GI), upper gastro-intestinal surgery, gallstones, epigastric pain, heartburn, abdominal pain, haemorrhoids, anal fissure, rectal bleeding, constipation and diarrhoea and hernia surgery. Mr Blower performs endoscopy procedures including Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and Flexible Sigmiodoscopy.

Mr Blower completed basic and higher surgical training at Manchester Hospitals and was trained as a Senior Registrar in General Surgery (subspecialty Coloproctology and Gastrointestinal Surgery) at Salford Royal, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Christie and Withington Hospitals. He has been Clinical Director of Surgery at WWL from 1999 to 2012 and Clinical Director of Cancer Services/Cancer Lead Clinician from 2005 to 2013. He was also the Chairman/ Clinical Lead of the Network Colorectal Cancer Site Specific Group of the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer Network from 2006 to 2012. He became Medical Director of the Cancer Network in 2012 and held this post until April 2013 when he became Executive Medical Director at The Christie Hospital NHS Trust. He held this post until October 2016.
