Having been very short-sighted for most of my life, the decision to undertake laser eye surgery was nonetheless a very precious one. I previously attended consultations with other laser eye surgery companies and was told I was unsuitable for LASIK. I was seamlessly put at ease by the surgeon Mr Shortt who thoroughly explained the findings of my scans and I was delighted to be offered both procedures of LASIK and SMILE. Following further advice from Mr Shortt and Vicky Roberts, the Refractive Optometrist, I decided to go with SMILE. On the day of surgery, I was prepped, and had the procedure explained in great depth. Fifteen minutes later it was over! It was instantly obvious that my vision was returning, and I could even see the clock on the other side of the room without glasses which was such an amazing experience. The team at the follow up appointments were very professional, caring and supportive. I have not experienced any debilitating glare and have had a full visual recovery and at my last follow up I was told that I have better than 20/20 vision. SMILE has not only ensured me amazingly clear vision, but it has reduced my dry eyes symptoms which I was experiencing with the use of my previous contact lenses. I can’t stress how much the SMILE procedure has changed my life and I can’t thank the team at Optegra Eye Hospital enough for their honesty, efficiency and patience
