Mr Lewis is one of a small number of full-time varicose vein practitioners in the UK and Ireland and the only one working in Northern Ireland. He was appointed as a consultant vascular surgeon in 2007 and in subsequent years helped oversee the introduction of keyhole varicose vein treatments in the Southern, Western and Northern Trusts. He played a central role in the development of Northern Ireland’s Regional Varicose Vein Treatment centres in 2017. He has since retired from NHS work, but continues to work in private practice in Belfast, Dublin and the North-West of Northern Ireland.
He enjoys a national reputation as an authority in the management of venous disease has been invited to speak on the expert management of varicose veins at the Royal Society of Medicine’s Venous Forum, The British Association of Sclerotherapy and Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland meetings on a regular basis in recent years. He has been a member of the board of The British Association of Sclerotherapists since 2021.
He offers keyhole treatments for thread veins, varicose veins and complications of chronic venous insufficiency. Treatments offered include Endogenous Laser Ablation, Foam Sclerotherapy, Microsclerotherapy and non-injectable treatment of facial veins. He has a large experience in the treatment of veins on the face, chest, hands, feet and in the management of pelvic venous disorders.

Mr Lewis explained the procedure beforehand and during the procedure. He answered any queries that I had. Afterwards I received an email from him to remind me how long to wear the dressings and how long to wear the compression stocking afterwards. All good.

From the moment I spoke to Mr Lewis and his staff I was very much put at my ease. He gave me clear explanation of what way the procedure would be done and he answered any question's I had then and during the procedure. I would highly recommend Mr Lewis and his staff to anyone and look forward to seeing the results at my review appointment.

Dr. Lewis very professional and explained everything before the procedure which made it really easy. Fantastic personality and made me very comfortable during procedure which can be a bit overwhelming. Very thorough. I felt very safe in his hands & consider him to be a brilliant doctor.

Had a consultation and procedure with Mr Lewis. Absolutely first class on both occasions. Friendly, non-judgemental and informative. I was kept fully informed during the procedure, (45 minutes), I was awake and constantly reassured. Mr Lewis explained every detail.
