    About

Mr Alastair Henderson joined Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust in 2010, as a consultant urological surgeon.

Mr. Henderson undertook his initial medical training at Imperial College and St. Mary’s Hospital, London. He completed a PhD on prostate cancer in addition to this. His postgraduate training was at Guy's Hospital, London as well as Frimley, Epsom, East Surrey and the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. This included visits to Seattle where Brachytherapy treatment was pioneered at the Seattle Prostate Institute and over two years at Guys Hospital learning robotic and laparoscopic surgery, giving him the expertise to treat patients with complex problems.

Alastair's clinical practice includes all aspects of general urology. His special interests are in the treatment of kidney problems including kidney cancer using laparoscopy and minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment for prostate cancer. He has particular experience in prostate brachytherapy, cryotherapy, laser prostatic surgery and robotic surgery for prostate cancer and in helping men with prostate cancer to decide on the right option for them.

He also provides a paediatric urology clinic and surgery service at Spire Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

In addition to his excellence in practice, Mr. Henderson is a reviewer for several scientific Journals which have included the Lancet, European Urology, Journal of Urology and the British Journal of Urology International; testament to his skill in his field.
