Mr Yüksel Gerçek is an experienced Consultant general and colorectal surgeon based in Bedford. His specialities include general surgery, colonoscopy, abdominal wall hernia, colorectal surgery (lower gastrointestinal), colorectal cancer, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and haemorrhoids.
Mr Gerçek is highly trained with almost 20 years of experience. Upon completion of his training at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, he went on to gain his qualifications in general and colorectal surgery in Belgium before moving to Dundee, Scotland, to receive further training. He was added to the GMC specialist register general surgery in 2001.
In addition to his NHS practice as a consultant surgeon, he also sees patients privately. He offers various services to patients. He has a special interest in all kind of hernia's (even the more difficult ones), treatments for haemorrhoids, cholecystectomy, and colonoscopy.

Mr Gercek was very approachable and answered all my questions in full. The first procedure took place in clinic, to my surprise actually, as I had expected yet another delay through the appointment system, but Mr Gercek, having explained and discussed all my options, was happy to proceed immediately. Although an uncomfortable procedure, I was treated with dignity and respect throughout. I was given full explanations of what to expect post-procedure, and no surprises later. My condition did require a more intrusive procedure, and I was given all the options, and I opted for a full operation under anaesthesia. The team was great on the day, and Mr Gercek was very kind when he came to the ward post-op. Since then, I have been so much more comfortable than I had been. My thanks.

He is a likable person who gets on well with the rest of the team and in the same he proved be very good and valuable member of the team. He commands good communication skills with other specilaties, nursing staff and patients up to the level that he could inspire condidence in the patient very easily.
