About
Mr Vasilios Papastefanou competed his basic training in Ophthalmology in Athens, Greece and completed his PhD thesis in the University of Athens. He subsequently did extensive subspecialty training in Medical Retina (two one-year fellowships in St James University Hospital in Leeds and in Moorfields Eye Hospital in London), Ocular Oncology (one two-year fellowship in Moorfields Eye Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital in London) and in Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Orbital Surgery (15-month fellowship in Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge)
He was a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Moorfields Eye Hospital from 2014-2019 and in Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust from 2016-2019. He has also received specialized training for aesthetic facial treatments and is a Level 7 specialist.
He has more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and more than 100 presentations in national and international meetings including invited lectures and symposia organisation.
He speaks English, French, Spanish and Greek -
Informally speaking, I also enjoy classical music (frequenting the Proms every summer and the Barbican concert halls for the rest of the year). I love photography and a good read. We are a proud Ophthalmology family - My wife is a Glaucoma Surgeon and we have a 7-year old boy .

Mr Papastefanou has a relaxed but focussed manner which put me at ease immediately. I felt he was extremely thorough in his assessment or me, looking at all aspects of my eye and applying his intellect and experience and his explanation of what he saw in my eye and what this meant was really clear.

I recently visited Dr Vasilios Papastefanou for my ocular melanoma follow up appointment. He was very calm and efficient and gave me very detailed information about my eyes ... i found him extremely knowledgeable and clear up understand.
