Mr Thomas Holme is a Consultant General Surgeon at Lister and Pinehill Hospitals, whose current surgical practice is predominantly gastrointestinal, including gall bladder and hernia surgery. He is one of the most experienced laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgeons in current practice, even aiding Professor Cuschieri's as a member of the team responsible for pioneering laparoscopic cholecystectomy. He is also a member of the Court of Examiners at the Royal College of Surgeons.

Dr Holme trained in General Surgery in Scotland and London, achieving his primary edical qualification (MB ChB) at the University of Dundee in 1975. Outside his clinical work, Dr Holme is an experienced trainer of junior surgeons and he has presented and published internationally and nationally on cancer biology and surgery, more recently taking an interest and published papers on surgical risk assessment.
