Mr Tapan Mahapatra is a Consultant General Surgeon specialising in Breast Surgery. He has more than 20 years of experience working in the NHS mainly in Hull, London and Barnsley and has held a Consultant post in surgery at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust since 1999. At the moment, he is in charge of breast care and surgery at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital.

Mr Mahapatra assesses and treats patients with a range of breast conditions. He has a special interest in breast care, benign breast problems, breast cancer and gynaecomastia. He also performs cosmetic breast surgery and is skilful in hernia repair and laparoscopic gallbladder surgery.

Mr Mahapatra has a keen interest in research in the field of breast cancer. He has co-authored numerous publications in his field and presented his work at national and internal conferences whilst working in the Academic Unit at the University of Hull.
