Mr Shwan Ahmed is a consultant urological surgeon with clinical interests in endourology, general urology and uro-oncology. His primary hospital is Eastbourne District General Hospital, and he is also the current lead for urological cancer at East Sussex NHS Trust. He also sees private patients at the Michelham Private Unit in Eastbourne, the Nuffield Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Spire Sussex Hospital.
Mr Ahmed offers both general and specialised urological services and can provide comprehensive assessment and management of kidney, bladder, and prostate disorders. He has a specialist interest in minimally invasive surgery for benign prostate enlargement (Urolift procedure) and the management of kidney disorders using laparoscopy and cryosurgery. He also has expertise in treating stone disease using holmium laser fragmentation.
Mr Ahmed has undetaken his training in urology at a number of hospitals in the South East including world renowned Guy's and King's College Hospitals. He earned his MD from the University of Surrey for his work on cryosurgery for prostate cancer and has presented his findings both nationally and internationally. Mr Ahmed has a passion for medical education and has taught urology trainees on a number of courses. He is currently the eduaction lead for Urology at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
