Professor Richard Gibbs is a Vascular Surgeon who specializes in the endovascular and open-surgical treatment of arterial and venous vascular disease. His postgraduate training was undertaken at St Barts, Charing Cross, and St Mary's Hospitals in London, and his current NHS practice is at Imperial College NHS Trust where he serves as Clinical Director for Vascular Surgery.
He has a wealth of clinical experience in treating all aspects of vascular disease, with a particular focus on aortic conditions. He has published numerous papers and lectured internationally on this topic and is widely regarded as an expert in the field.
Prof Gibbs works collaboratively with colleagues from interventional radiology and cardiac surgery to treat complex aortic aneurysms. Additionally, he is responsible for establishing and managing the UK's only multidisciplinary Type B aortic dissection clinic at Imperial College NHS Trust. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Prof Gibbs has also served on the councils of the British Society for Endovascular Therapy and the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
