About

Mr Rajab Kerwat, Consultant General Surgeon, currently works within the Lewisham and Greenwich Trust and sees patients in a private setting within the London Bridge Hospital and HCA UK at The Shard. He is highly specialised in upper GI keyhole surgery and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He can provide numerous surgical procedures to his patients including laparoscopic surgery for splenectomies, hernia repair, cholecystectomy, appendicectomy, and right hemicolectomy. He also treats reflux disease (GERD) and Giant hiatus hernia.

Mr Kerwat began his medical education in Lybia, where he qualified in 1988 from the Alfateh University Medical School. He then proceeded to train around the world, gaining invaluable experience in London, Cardiff, and Tokyo. Following this, he was appointed as Consultant Surgeon at Queen Mary's Hospital. During his career, he has innovated the use of keyhole surgery and endoscopic ERCP skills in cases of complicated gall bladder and bile duct stones in patients with jaundice, cholangitis and pancreatitis.

Mr Kerwat is an engaged teacher, training junior doctors in general and laparoscopic surgery techniques during their Foundation Training Programmes and Specialty Higher Surgical Training Programmes. He also works as a trainer for The Royal College of Surgeons Laparoscopic. He continues to actively engage with his field staying up-to-date on developments to ensure his care is evidence led.
