About

Mr Neil Bradbury is a knee specialist like no other—an internationally-acclaimed consultant orthopaedic surgeon and part-time surfer, Neil trained in orthopaedic surgery at Nottingham's Queens Medical Centre – one of the biggest and best orthopaedic hospitals in the UK. In search of the ultimate wave, his training took him to Australia with Dr Leo Pinczewski and Dr Mervyn Cross, and later to the USA, where he worked alongside Dr Richard Steadman – three of the world's most eminent knee surgeons.

Under the tutelage of such high calibre surgeons, Neil's expertise would come to push the boundaries of orthopaedics. It should, therefore, come as no surprise that he is able to perform all types of knee surgery including ligament reconstruction, keyhole surgery, half and full knee replacement as well as knee cap joint replacement. Not only this, his experience sees him regularly provide second opinions for patients with difficulties and for those individuals who need revision surgery.

Forever active, a passion for all things sport is a constituent part of his expertise—he understands the needs of the numerous injured athletes he treats. In fact, his understanding goes beyond that of reason, it comes into experience. A keen interest in cycling has seen him complete many big events such as stages of the Tour de France and the Étape du Tour.

Alongside his dedication to clinical work and interest in physical activity, Neil is committed to helping others who are less fortunate. In the past, he has lead many outdoor pursuits for groups of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, one of these was a three month expedition to Patagonia, in the southern most section of the Andes. The biggest lesson of the trip – "all people need is the right environment and great leadership – with that, ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things."

At the end of the day, Neil's devotion to knees is infallible and comes from an earnest place; he understands how important knees are to our daily living: "having injured my own knees (dislocated patella on left, ligament injury on right) I know how critical they are to us. Knee surgery is a very constructive branch of surgery with huge opportunities to push forward science and make a huge difference to people's lives. It allows me to treat patients aged 8 to 80 including elite athletes and professional sportspeople".
