Kartik gained his primary medical qualification at the Madras Medical College, which he subsequently followed up with his orthopaedic training in Wales. After his orthopaedic training was completrf, he visited various states in the USA for a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery. He was appointed Consultant in 1994 at the Royal Gwent Hospital, where he has since establish a high standard of practice, operating on a variety of patients, including footballers and professional dancers. He is also a national teacher for the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and was a past president of the Society.

Mr Hariharman was very polite and pleasant and I felt very much at ease. He was professional in his manner and reassuring. He was very thorough and took time to clearly explain the surgical procedures which may be necessary. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who has a similar foot problem.

Mr. Hariharan is obviously a very skilled surgeon and a perfect gentleman. He very patiently and thoroughly explained the surgical procedure I would need. I felt I would receive excellent care from him.

This was my first experience with a private specialist, did not know what to expect. Although my appointment was 45 minutes late i was not disappointed with the consultants diagnosis and his explanation of the treatments available. My current health issues have impacted on my mental well-being which i feel affected my ability to ask questions on the day. So i feel i should have been asked if i had any questions.
