Mr Adamek was extremely professional, efficient and kind, he explained everything thoroughly and involved me in the decision making process . He was friendly and reassuring and was carried out the procedure with extreme professionalism, highly recommend this consultant.

My initial consultation with Mr Adamek was good - he was informative and reassuring. However on the day of the colonoscopy it was obvious that the department was under pressure (due to earlier patients being delayed by an accident on the M25, I believe). I saw Mr Adamek briefly for the signing of the consent form, but he did not speak with me during or after the colonoscopy. I was not aware that biopsies were taken until reading my discharge paperwork on the way home - and I was also not told when to expect the results. The sedation given to me unfortunately did not work and the procedure was started within 30 seconds of it being given. Post procedure my BP dropped causing the monitor alarm to sound. I was left for several minutes before a nurse came and lowered the head of the bed.

I felt that it was very rushed. I made it very clear that I was extremely nervous about having this procedure and that I had to be heavily sedated from previous experience as I find it extremely traumatic. Unfortunately this seemed to be ignored and sniggered at. 2mg of sedation was given less than 30 seconds before the procedure and so I was not actually sedated at all. Resulting in a horrendous experience for myself. It’s very disappointing as there was no need for it.
