Professor Graham Hughes is a Rheumatologist working in Central London. He covers all aspects of General Rheumatology, but has a specific interest in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).
Professor Hughes qualified in Medicine from the University of London, and undertook his medical training at The London Hospital. Between 1969 and 1970 he completed a 2 year fellowship in New York at the Rheumatology and Lupus Centre under the supervision of Dr Charles Christian. Following this, he was first appointed Consultant Physician at Hammersmith Hospital in 1973, where he had set up a renowned Lupus clinic.
In 1983, he assigned alternative name for the clotting disorder which is known as Hughes Syndrome. Later in 1985, he set up Lupus clinic at St Thomas' Hospital. More impressively in 1993, he was awarded the World Rheumatology (ILAR) Research Prize for his description on Hughes Syndrome.
