From the start of my consultation i cannot explain how comfortable i felt with Mr Scala. He is so professional but in a very relaxed way. He is informative and is very easy to talk too, nothing was too much trouble, he took his time and explained everything so i understood, i was more than happy to make a decision about how to move forward with his excellent advice.

I elected for private treatment to have certainty over dates. My optician referred me to Mr Scala and I have not been disappointed with the expert advice and treatment I have received from him. We have been able to fit appointments in with our mutual commitments and I have had both cataracts treated in 6 months. I have had monovision lenses inserted and now do not have to wear glasses, having worn these since I was a child. Mr Scala is very personable, has explained the procedures clearly, answered my questions and made the interactions as enjoyable as they can be. I would recommend him.

Dr Scala is a fantastic eye surgeon. I live in London, but my retina detached whilst in London, and so I attended MREH and was seen, and operated on, by Dr Scala. I was so impressed with his care that, rather than move to a London consultant (which would have been more convenient), I decided to stay with Dr Scala for all of my post-op care, and thus travelled up to Manchester regularly, for several months, for all of my post-op appointments. First and foremost, Dr Scala performed an excellent operation (scleral buckle). I've had occasion to visit several London eye surgeons since the operation (as on a number of occasions I was concerned that my retina was re-detaching), at Moorfields and elsewhere, and they have all commented on how well the surgery was performed. Secondly, Dr Scala has fantastic bedside manner. He is calm, reassuring, and really takes the time to explain things to you - and gives you time, space and the necessary information to make reasoned decisions. Following the operation, Dr Scala was always contactable when I needed his advice - at night, on weekends, and even when he was on holiday. I was so appreciative of this, during some nerve-wracking periods when I thought my retina was re-detaching. In conclusion, Dr Scala is an absolutely first-rate eye surgeon, and I would always go straight to him with any eye problems I might have in the future.

Mr Scala explained everything clearly and was very reassuring. Even though it s only 5 weeks after the operation the outcome has been excellent with my eyesight massively improved already.
