From start to finish , Mr Cahill was both reassuring and also very clear in his explanation of the process. My operation was on 26 March , just as the country went into lockdown, but he managed to help my through the process. His skills also meant that my operation was a complete success and I’ve had no issues.

I am so lucky to have been in the care of Mr Cahill - not just technically an excellent surgeon but also very approachable and straightforward person. My post operative performance is doing very well directly due to the skill of Mr Cahill and his attempts to save what he can whilst minimising the risks. Thank you.

Explanation

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012 - and it was arranged that I should meet Declan Cahill. Not surprisingly I was quite alarmed by the news, but Mr Cahill was very calm and reassuring. He outlined, very clearly, all the possible options. It was decided that we should keep an eye on things with regular 6-monthly meetings and/or check-ups. Then in 2014, my PSA count started going up, then down, then up again, which started to stress me out. We talked through all the options again and I finally decided to have a prostatectomy. I felt in very safe hands. I had the operation at the end of November - all the time I was in hospital Mr Cahill was very reassuring. Then when I got home, he phoned me morning and evening for the first week to check out how I was doing and told me not to hesitate to phone if I was concerned about anything. There followed a number of 6-monthly meetings to check all was well with the PSA count. And now this has levelled out to annual check-ups. I am so thankful I was referred to him in the first place.

Explanation

I have been diagnose with prostate cancer in 2018. Following many biopsy test and CT scans, I was advised to have radical prostatectomy . I live in Cyprus but I was referred to Mr Declan Cahill by a GP family member in London, who advised that Mr Declan Cahill used the robotic prostatectomy which provides a better chance of cancer fully removal. Mr Declan Cahill performed radical robotic prostatectomy surgery on me at the excellent Royal Marsden hospital. My PSA zero results since now shows that Mr Declan Cahill did an excellent job. Mr Declan Cahill provided a very clear pre and post surgery report and gave me all the necessary informations. The operating procedure went smoothly and safely and I would definitely recommend Mr Declan Cahill for anyone like myself who requires similar treatment.

Explanation

As a self referred patient who had become increasingly confused and concerned by the advice offered by my local hospital trust, Declan Cahill was a complete breakthrough explaining the results of the scans and tests as supplied by my local NHS team then diplomatically ascertaining whether I could afford a further series of tests to confirm the diagnosis and seriousness of the tumour on my prostate. All brilliantly organised by Mr Cahill and his secretary to minimise time wastage and accommodate my travel from East Suffolk for appointments and procedures. As feared, the tumour was on the margins and needed urgent surgery to remove my prostate which once again was scheduled and undertaken with great efficiency and support of the delightful HCA team. Now almost two years on, I am cancer free without any long term side effects and back under the local NHS Trust for ongoing monitoring. I cannot recommend the Declan Cahill experience more highly.
