Mr Daren Francis is a leading Consultant Surgeon specialising in laparoscopic, colorectal, and general surgery. He currently holds an NHS position at the Royal Free London Foundation Trust where he is the Lead for Emergency Surgical Services and Colorectal Cancer Services. Additionally, he practices privately with HCA Healthcare at The Harley Street Clinic and The Wellington Hospital. The talented surgeon offers robotic surgery treatments for rectal cancer and prolapse, along with minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures. In 2013, Mr Francis was named in the Tatler Doctors Guide as one of the top 250 doctors in the UK.
After completing his Medical Degree and specialist training he was appointed Consultant in 2005. He is heavily involved in medical education, lecturing at all levels and has had numerous publications throughout his career. He has also been a guest speaker at international level conferences and offers educational seminars for other healthcare professionals. In addition, Mr Francis is the surgical advisor to the BAFTA-winning BBC soap 'Holby City', along with other independent productions.

An excellent doctor

Always felt very comfortable with Mr Francis despite having a complicated medical condition. All aspects of my treatment were explained to me in a clear and precise way. He is supported by an effective team who were always available to deal with my concerns. I have no criticism of my treatment I feel I was extremely well looked after.

Mr Francis was highly professional throughout the two consultations. I was given an excellent explanation of the procedure and what to expect. I was treated with the required level of delicacy given the area of surgery( hernia)

Having had an abdominal wall reconstruction for a large hernia I am delighted with the results and care given to me by Mr Francis. Everything was explained fully at every stage and can’t wait to get back in my swimsuit!

Daren Francis is a fantastic colleague, with great clinical skills. A highly skilled surgeon, who's communication and bed side manner match his operating ability and decision making. I have referred many patients to him, and have looked after those of his patients who have needed Cardiology input. The feedback from them is always excellent. He takes on complex patients, and tends to find a way to a solution for them, no matter how difficult the situation may be.
