I have been a Consultant Vascular Surgeon since 1996. I am interested in all aspects of Vascular disease. I specialise in the management of peripheral vascular disease, the diabetic foot, leg ulcers and varicose veins. I specialise in managing varicose veins in the out patient setting, and as day case local anaesthetic procedures.
I am committed to the education of our next generation of vascular surgeons. I am the educational supervisor for the junior surgeons in our trust. I have been a member of the SAC - responsible for overseeing the deliver of education across the country. I am a member of the education committee of the Vascular Society and trainer on the ASPIRE programme. I am an Examiner for the Intercollegiate FRCS in Vascular Surgery.
Diseases, Medical Tests and TreatmentsRadiofrequency ablation, mechanochemical ablation, glue ablation and sclerotherapy for varicose veins. Microsclerotherapy for thread veins
Angioplasty, endovascular stents and peripheral artery bypass for blocked arteries in the legs
Endovascular (EVAR) and open repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms.
Carotid endarterectomy.
I am a general Vascular Surgeon and treat diseases affecting arteries and veins.
For venous disease, I specialise in using endovenous techniques to manage varicose veins. These procedures can all be done as day case surgery, usually under local anaesthetic. This means your recovery time is short and you can return to your normal activity quickly.
I have a special interest in leg and foot ulceration including diabetic foot disease. Early assessment and diagnosis can help these ulcers to heal. I have excellent support from tissue viability nurses at the Clementine Churchill. We can give you personalised care and achieve rapid healing of ulcers.
As a general vascular surgeon, I manage the full range of arterial disease, including aneurysmal disease, carotid artery disease and peripheral vascular disease (PAD) which gives you pains in the leg when you walk (claudication) and can be the cause of ulcers.
