Miss Saswati Maitra

Miss Maitra is an obstetrician and gynaecologist based at the following locations:

• The Clementine Churchill Hospital
• Northwick Park Hospital

Her primary clinical interests include Emergency Gynaecology and high-risk obstetrics. She has expertise in gynaecology ultrasound (including 3D gynaecology scanning), early pregnancy issues such as recurrent and late miscarriages, poor obstetric history, ectopic pregnancies, and one-stop gynaecology clinics for pelvic pain and irregular/heavy vaginal bleeding.

She is also the North West London Hospital NHS Trust's Emergency Gynaecology and Early Pregnancy Problems Lead. She offers a range of gynaecological services, including general health screenings, menstruation abnormalities, polycystic ovarian syndrome, fibroids, contraception, and menopausal issues.

Miss Maitra earned her bachelor's degree from Calcutta University in 1993. She received her specialist training in the North West Thames region of London, primarily at St Mary's Hospital, where she was able to learn from some of the world's most renowned specialists in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She was instrumental in the establishment of Northwick Park Hospital's new Gynaecology Direct Referral unit, where women with early pregnancy problems, emergency gynaecology problems (such as pelvic pain and very heavy menstrual bleeding) would be able to walk in, have their problems resolved with surgery if necessary, and be discharged home as soon as possible, resulting in a better patient experience.
