Colorectal Surgeon Miss Sarah Mills is based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Her private practices are at The Lister Hospital, Chelsea Outpatient Centre, and Sydney Street Outpatients and Diagnostic Centre. Her areas of interest include colorectal cancer, laparoscopic surgery, Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) for early rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, interventional colonoscopy, and haemorrhoids.
Miss Mills graduated from Oxford University Medical School in 1998 before completing surgical training in the UK and Australia. She went on to undertake colorectal fellowships at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia and St Mark's Hospital in London. She later achieved an MD, where her research focused on the immunology of inflammatory bowel disease. In 2016, she became an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London.
Miss Mills is actively involved in clinical research and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work both nationally and internationally. She is currently involved in the development of novel treatments for complex polyps and early rectal cancers. In addition, she is a JAG-accredited (Joint Advisory Group of GI Endoscopy) endoscopist and Chair of the Endoscopy Committee of ACPGBI.
She also has a passion for global health and regularly teaches surgeons, anaesthetists, and nurses in low and middle-income countries in Africa.
