Miss Kerstin Oestreich is highly experienced in plastic, cosmetic and hand surgery, where her journey started 22 years ago in one of the largest plastic surgery centres in Europe (Germany) and has been a successful Consultant in the UK with private practice since 16 years.

Her experience results from a breadth of plastic surgery including reconstruction with free tissue transfers, burns surgery, skin cancer, aesthetic work around body contouring and breast surgery as well as hand surgery in all ages.

She has been in private practice since 2008 in the UK with several practising priviledges. Currently she is consulting from locations in the West Midlands sites in Birmingham
Kat@Co, Spire Little Aston, Spire Parkway and Circle Priory Hospitals.

Out of her longstanding career, Kerstin has developed her special interest in the field of cosmetic surgery, skin surgery and hand/wrist surgery, today her main specially areas are:

Cosmetic Breast Surgery: Kerstin has a specialist interest in the cosmetic areas of breast surgery including augmentations, reductions and mastopexies.

Cosmetic Gynaeco-plastic Surgery: She has been the lead gynaeco-plastic surgeon at her previous NHS employment and has special interest in cosmetic gynaecology​ including fat transfer. She shares her experience in cosmetic gynaecology.

Cosmetic Body Contouring: Kerstin has been able to perfection her skills and has particular interest in Lipoabdominoplasty (Lock and Glue) as well as body contouring (arm and thigh lifts).

Skin Surgery: Kerstin has longstanding experience with all sort of skin lesions , scar revisions and skin refashioning which has been part of her longstanding practice.

Hand/Wrist Surgery: Kerstin is a highly trained and experienced hand and wrist surgeon. One of the few surgeons in the UK, wo can also treat children's hand and wrist problems as well as adults.

Qualifications:

Miss Oestreich graduated in 1995 from the historic University of
Heidelberg/Mannheim in Germany and did her surgical training internationally in
Germany, Ireland and Singapore qualifying as a General Surgeon in 2000 and as a
Plastic Surgeon in 2006 in Germany.

Kerstin held a permanent NHS consultant post in Plastic and Hand Surgery since 2007 in the Department of Plastic Surgery, Salisbury Foundation Trust Hospital, where her work included breast and skin pathologies as well as hand/wrist surgery. In 2014 until 2022 she joined the Department of Plastic Surgery at the prestigious Birmingham Children's Hospital. She is an honorary consultant at the prestigious Pulvertaft Hand Centre at the Derby Royal Hospital since 2014. Mrs Oestreich is since December 2022 in her full time private practice in the West Midlands.

Kerstin has regularly attended international meetings an courses, to stay updated with the latest surgical trends. She has several accompanying qualifications within her clinical and managerial roles which include advanced ultrasound, laser and safety in radiology imaging.

Alongside her surgical training, she has also completed a thesis and was awarded a Medical Doctorate in 1996 (Germany) and a further Master's degree in Healthcare Management in Germany in 2005 (Master of Science Healthcare Management). She received a degree in ‘European Healthcare Leadership' at the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau/ France. She was granted the award for the ‘Leadership Award Scheme' by the Health Foundation in London/UK in 2008.

Kerstin is a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), the British Association of Surgery of the hand (BSSH). She is also an international member of several surgical societies such as the German Society for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (DGPRAEC), the American Society of Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), the International Wrist Arthroscopy Society (IWAS), the Asociacion Colombiana De Cirurgia de la Mano (ASOCIMANO), the International Wrist Investigator's' Workshop (IWIW), the German Society forSurgery (DGC) and the Association of German Surgeons (BDC).

Specialist training:

She qualified for General Surgery in 2000 and her specialist training in Plastic Surgery in 2006 and Hand Surgery in 2007 in Germany. She is on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for General Surgery and Plastic Surgery since 2006. She further has qualified in hand surgery in 2007 and has specialist training in wrist surgery in adults and children since 2008. Kerstin further is qualified in ‘Quality Management in Medicine'.

Academic Activity:

Kerstin has been active in her academic role and is co-author of 4 book chapters, has published more than 40 peer reviewed publications. Kerstin has been invited speaker and faculty member in several international meetings and over 50 presentations on national and international level.
