From the first consultation with Mr Yamamoto I knew that I had chosen the right man. As previous MRI scans of my prostate had shown a small PI-RADS 4 lesion all previous consultants had concentrated on that and ignored the urinary symptoms (caused by a huge prostate) which by that stage had deteriorated badly. I had gone into retention some seven months earlier, was self catheterising up to five times a day and, as a result, having recurring UTIs requiring prophylactic antibiotic treatment. I was, therefore, impressed that Mr Yamamoto took the time to consider everything and to explain in a clear and concise manner what could be done, the risks involved and the likely outcome. This continued and I never felt rushed or embarrassed that I was asking stupid questions. His experience and professionalism shone through, even to calling me at home after the operation to make sure that everything was OK, and I could never have felt in safer hands. The procedure itself was carried out quickly and, in my eyes, has been an unqualified success. I no longer need to catheterise and have no urinary symptoms at all. To Mr Yamamoto it was doubtless just another routine operation but for me it is no understatement to say that he transformed my life. I can never truly express my gratitude for everything he did for me and I have no hesitation in recommending him very highly. He is a kind, thoughtful and considerate man with a vast amount of skill and knowledge.
