Dr Effie Liakopoulou is an experienced consultant in Haematological Medicine and Haemato-oncology with over 30 years of international practice. She has studied and worked in leading institutions across Europe, the USA, and the Middle East, acquiring extensive knowledge in science, medicine, research, and regulatory development. Throughout her career, Dr Liakopoulou has made significant contributions to medical leadership, change management, and quality improvement in the NHS, governmental, corporate, and charitable organisations. She has also led and supported various teaching and training initiatives, mentoring students, trainees, and healthcare professionals at various levels.
Dr Liakopoulou has been practising in Jersey since 2018. In addition to her clinical work, she serves as an Assistant Professor in Medicine Haematology at the University of Washington in the USA. Dr Liakopoulou has held prominent leadership roles, including serving as Associate Medical Director of Scheduled and Tertiary Care for the Government of Jersey. She is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists. Expert witness member of the EWI.
Her expertise spans haematological oncology, cell therapies, personalised medicine, and medical leadership, and she continues to innovate in these areas with her research and clinical practice.
