Dr Victoria Swale is a highly experienced Consultant Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist (physician specialising in the diagnosis of skin disease). Her NHS base is at the Royal Free Hospital where she is a core member of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team. She is also a Locum Consultant Dermopathologist at the Royal Hampstead NHS Foundation Trust. She sees private patients at the Platinum Medical Centre, Wellington Hospital and at the Royal Free Hospital.
Dr Swale is trained in all aspects of dermatology, including eczema, acne, hair loss, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, warts and other skin lesions and rashes. She has a specialist interest in skin cancer, moles and other pigmented lesions and vulval and genital skin conditions.
She was awarded her Doctor of Medicine higher degree for her research into genetic aspects of skin cancer and moles. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Swale has been a member of the Dermatology Speciality Question Writing Group for the Royal College of Physicians since 2006; in 2019 she was appointed to the Examination Board for Dermatology. She was the senior judge for the British Association of Dermatologists' Annual Meetings in 2017 and 2019. She is also a member of the Council for the British Society for the Study of Vulval Diseases; she organised the successful 2019 National Conference.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Swale is very active in teaching both Dermatology and Pathology; she has been a regular invited speaker on several national courses over the last 10 years, and frequently teaches local GPs in London. She has been invited to Lucca, Italy, to teach on a GP course in 2020.
