About
Mr Tristan McMullan has been a Consultant since 2007. A Cambridge graduate with a PhD, he trained in both the UK and the USA.  In the UK he built his skills in non-cosmetic surgery whilst in America he concentrated his efforts on cosmetic procedures at the Center for Facial Appearances. This institute was home to two of the leading Ophthalmologic Plastic Surgeons in all America.
Mr McMullan enjoys cataract surgery as part of his wide practice in general ophthalmology. He specialises in a procedure using a small incision in the cataract using topical (eye-drop) anaesthetic. Outside of providing a gold-standard General Ophthalmic practice, Mr McMullan subspecialises in eyelid and lacrimal surgery - droopy, in-turned, out-turned eyelids, tumours, Dry Eye etc.
In all his surgery, he utilises and develops his broad variety of techniques from both sides of the Atlantic to optimise the results for both the patient and surgeon.
Mr McMullan has kept his interest in research both clinically and scientifically. He has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and presented at both national and international conferences. He is currently a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society and its European counterpart. He is a NAB Trustee and Associate Director for Undergraduate Studies at NGH.
He provides private consultancy at BMI Three Shires Hospital and Woodland Hospital, and honours his NHS commitments as a Consultant at the Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust.

"An excellent colleague and a first-class ophthalmologist. We often work together, particularly with paediatric oculoplastic cases. On top of that he is a thoroughly nice person."
