Dr Shyamal Mashru is a consultant psychiatrist and the medical lead for the Adult ADHD service at Barnet Hospital.

He undertook his psychiatry training in North London before becoming a consultant psychiatrist at Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust.
Initial ADHD assessments with Dr. Mashru are online and generally last 90 minutes with 30 minutes afterwards that Dr Mashru uses to produce an in-depth report for his patient. This is then followed by the correct treatment according to the needs of the patient.

Leading up to the assessment Dr Mashru ensured I had everything I needed. I felt very comfortable and relaxed talking to him which made me feel at ease. He also explained things very well and gave me a better understanding of adhd and my mind.

I was really quite worried about my consultation and didn't know what to expect but Dr Mashru put me at complete ease! I had nothing to worry about at all and he explained my diagnosis/treatment options in great detail. Advising what the next steps are. He also explained to me why I do certain things and what causes those actions in a way that was easy to understand. Dr Shy diagnosed both me and my son with ADHD. He combined a compassionate and relaxed manner with high professional standards. I did a great deal of research on finding the right consultant as I had been disappointed by other consultants during my diagnosis of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
