Dr Rim El Rifai is a Consultant General Paediatrician in London, currently working at the private practices at The Bupa Cromwell Hospital, BMI The Blackheath Hospital and BMI The Chelsfield Park Hospital. Her NHS practice is at The Evelina London Children's Hospital, part of Guy's and St Thomas' Foundation Trust.
Dr El Rifai has an extensive experience in managing all aspects of childhood diseases. Her career spans over 30 years where she trained at several teaching hospitals such as Birmingham Children's Hospital, Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals and King's College Hospital. She has been a Consultant Paediatrician since 2003. In addition, she held several leadership positions in the NHS where she was responsible for the delivery of excellent children services in the hospitals she worked at.
Dr El Rifai is available to look after all aspects of your child's health, whether acute or ongoing, including well child visits, vaccinations, advice and addressing your concerns as well as the management of your child's illness. Her areas of special interest include children’s bladder and bowel problems such as night time wetting, day time wetting, some children’s kidney problems and urinary tract infections.
Dr El Rifai graduated from Damascus University Faculty of Medicine in 1985. She attained a Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1995 and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2004. She holds a Diploma in Medical Ethics and Philisophy of Medicine from the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in London, in 2003.
In addition, Dr El Rifai is interested in medical education and she is an examiner for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. She is also interested in the medical and research ethics and she served for a few years on the local research ethics committee. She is interested research regarding children’s bladder and bowel disorders. She also has many professional memberships including International Children's Continence Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, International Pediatric Nephrology Association, International Continence Society, Society of International Urology and European Urological Association.
